On Page Optimization

Lately, the query came up about the difference between “On-Page” SEO and “On-site” SEO and somebody asked me if there was any difference and, if so, what it was. Both conditions refer to search engine optimization factor that you manage on the website itself and include: i) the content on the website and ii) the structure of the website. The content, of course, is the words you use and how they "relate" to the search terms, or keywords, that people are looking for in their web search. The structure refers to how the website is architect for SEO. This contains the use of keywords in the URL, the Title Tags, Page Descriptions, keyword tags, and inner links within the site.

The difference between the two terms is that “On Page” optimization refers to search engine optimization that is complete on a single exact page while “On Site” optimization refers to structural matter that relate or connect one page to another across the website.

Here are a couple examples of best practice for “On Site” optimization.

Use interior links from one page on the site to another related page on the website. It increase your SEO rankings the search engine sees the use of a keyword on one page, sees that it is a hotlink, or interior link, to another page on your website, and then finds the same search term on the related page. This is a magnificent structure.
One more example is to use sole page descriptions and keywords on each page of the website. No two pages should be the equal, contain duplicate content, or try to achieve the same search engine optimization objective. It is greatest to optimize each page separately. Naturally, you will have some pages that are related to other pages and this is good. These pages should be hierarchically presented and connected and they may contain some overlie content. However, each page should be optimized for an exact SEO objective. In mainly sites, some pages are more common while others are more exact. In this situation, use a more common search term such as a 2 or 3 keyword terms to optimize the common page. Then, use a more exact 3, 4 or 5 keyword phrase to optimize the more correct page.
